Relationship Advice: How Do I Know If I’ve Met “The One?”

By dicksinthecity

Relationship advice can tell you how to have a healthy partnership, but it won’t tell you if you’ve crossed paths with your soul made. So how do you know?

What She Said:

Ah, there’s nothing better than finding love – especially when it’s “the one.” Contrast and compare this list with your lover to find out if you’re on the way to “forever.”

  • You Agree On “The Big Four.” It’s important to be on the same page as you navigate your life together. Some of the biggest situations that can shake even the most solid couples include: whether or not to have kids, religion, finances and in-laws. Kids: do you both agree on whether or not to have them? Do you share similar views on spirituality? Do you share the same values about spending and saving money? What are your boundaries about each other’s families? It’s a surer sign for longevity if you’re in agreement on these big issues.
  • Attraction. Of course you’ve been attracted to other lovers, but there’s something extra special about this person. It’s indefinable, but you know it when you feel it. It’s that palpable, joyful sense that your bodies fit together like no one else before.
  • You’re Best Friends. As much as you’re having fun between the sheets, you also need to enjoy each other outside of the bedroom. When you’ve met “the one” you’ll share compatibility both in and out of the sack. You need the bond of deep friendship to carry you through the ups and downs – and you want someone who truly has your back.
  • You Love Each Other Unconditionally. The first heady months of romance are amazing – but you know you’re with “the one” when you embrace each other’s faults and stick around anyway. “The one” will love you when you’re sick or crabby – as much as he or she will when you’re presenting your best self.
  • There’s No Drama. We’ve all had those tumultuous relationships. They’re gut wrenching and often passionate – but they’re not built for the long haul. A relationship with “the one” will flow easily because you both know it’s right. Not to say there won’t be challenges – but the challenges won’t include tears of despair.

What He Said:

  • It’s More Than Just Sex. And more than making love, though you’re doing that too. The point is you like each other in and out of the sheets. The one is as much fun with their clothes on as off.
  • The Sex Is Really Good, Though. The sex should be electric. Sex includes flirting, foreplay, everything. You both should be really good in terms of sexual compatibility. If you’re kinky as hell and she’s straight vanilla, it’s not going to work. Sorry. She won’t be talked into S&M and/or swinging. Not so much. Or if she’s kinky and he’s not, still not doable. But if you’re both into S&M and swinging, that right there is a damn good time and a damn good level of compatibility.
  • You’ve Seen The “Real” Them, And You Don’t Want To Kill Them. If anything, not only should you really like who they are, all their nervous quirks and ticks should seem cute or hot or adorable to you. Granted, they will begin to drive you up the wall at some point, but that’s for later. Hopefully, much, much later.
  • You’re A Lot Alike. Opposites attract, but they rarely stay together in long term relationships. Sure, it’s natural for you to be good at things that your partner is bad at and vice versa, but if you’re a hardcore vegan and he’s Ted Nugent, how’s that going to work? Ted Nugent needed himself a gun toting, right wing, kill it and grill it type of woman and he found her. And they’re happier than pigs in mud.

Q&A: What Is A Soulmate?

By loveandsex

Couples in love may wonder if they’ve met their soul mate. Everything is perfect and it even seems like this person finishes your sentences for you. But how do you really know if you’re with your soul mate and what happens when the initial “love at first sight” feeling wears off and you’re experiencing day to day life with someone you have a soul level connection with?

Question: Hey Dan and Jennifer, my question for you what are both of your opinions on the concept on “soul mates,” and can you put that concept into what it’s like on a daily basis?

–YouTube Viewer

What Is A Soul Connection?

A soul connection is described differently by a lot of people. There are many different opinions on what a soul mate is and if soul mates even exist. Everyone has their own opinion on whether soul mates exist or don’t, as well as what a soul connection is like when you experience it. Some people who have never experienced a soul connection are very doubtful that soul mates are possible, while someone who has experienced that deep level of love and trust will never doubt its existence. The most common description of a soul connection between two people is when both people just “know” that they need to be in each other’s lives, be it at that moment, for that week or for life. Some people feel like it is “love at first sight,” but what each person seems to agree upon is that it is a feeling about someone that goes very deep, possibly deeper than you’ve ever felt before.

Who Can You Have A Soul Connection With?

People can have a soul connection with just about anyone. Gender, social status, money or life experiences have nothing to do with whom you have a soul connection with. You may have a soul connection with a friend or a lover, or more than one person. There isn’t just one “soul mate” for each person out there on the planet. A soul connection can be had with anyone, or more than one person at a time. One soul mate doesn’t trump another, although different types of soul connections can exist. You may have a deep connection with an old friend, but you may also have a very deep connection with your partner. Both are equally important to you and nurture your soul in different ways.

What Is Day To Day Life Like With A Soul Mate?

Even if you’re in a long term relationship with your soul mate, your relationship and day to day life may not always be smooth sailing. Day to day issues are going to get in the way, such as bills and kids, and you and your partner may not always be in agreement about everything. You and your partner may not see eye to eye on everything, but the important part about soul mates is that after the storms blow over at the end of the day, you and your partner still feel that deep love between each other and still feel like you’re playing on the same team.

9 Soul Mate Myths That Will Screw Up Your Love Life

By scottstephenpetullo

How many times have you heard someone say “I want to find my soul mate?” Since we do intuitive and other types of readings and analyses (using comprehensive handwriting   analysis, astrology, numerology and tarot) the subject of love and soul mates is a popular one; we hear it on a weekly, and sometimes daily basis.

Unfortunately, most people’s perception of the concept of soul mates is based on movies and fairytales instead of reality. It’s easy to erroneously assume that everyone has a single soul mate, and if you could just find the person, you’d have the ideal love life.
Well, this simply is false. In fact, the results of our on-going empirical research indicate that there are many misconceptions about soul mates.
In addition, after matching and observing thousands for love relationships as a matchmaker, and regressing nearly as many for past life love issues, we’ve noticed that there are some soul mate myths that repeatedly trip up even the most successful and intelligent people.

1. The “Everyone Has One Soul Mate” Myth

This myth causes plenty of problems. What if you fall in love at age 22 and then the relationship ends when you’re 25? Are you meant to be alone for the rest of your life? Is that as good as it gets?
Depending on your love karma and personal fate, maybe. But it’s always a good idea, when you’re single, to remain open for compatible love possibilities because everyone has many soul mates. A soul mate is simply someone you’ve known in a past life. Some are very compatible for love relationships, and some are not at all.

2. The “When Soul Mates Find Each Other, The Perfect Relationship Will Automatically Ensue” Myth

When soul mates find each other, they sometimes have good karma to enjoy, but more often, they have challenging karma to work through. Why, you ask? Because your soul (not your personality) contracted to return to Earth to grow and learn, and challenges involving a “soul mate” are often the perfect circumstances to accelerate your spiritual growth.

3. The “Soul Mate Relationships are Meant to Last Forever” Myth

If you think about this, it really doesn’t make much sense since everyone is always evolving, changing, improving, and sometimes regressing at different rates. Are you the same person you were 20 years ago? Of course not.
Do you expect your best friend from 6th grade to be your best friend when you’re 80? It can happen, but it’s rare. Do you expect to have your first job for the rest of your life? No. Granted, many couples can “grow old” together and are destined to do so, but often it’s just not meant to be long term. Resisting this will only cause more heartache and stress.
Acceptance of your situation and what you can’t change will allow you to cherish and be grateful for what you have now and what is to come in the future. At the same time, we do acknowledge that the deep love of many soul mate connections is developed over many lifetimes. Love is forever, but unfortunately the duration of relationships (no matter how
strong of a connection) in this incarnation oftentimes aren’t.

4. The “Twin Flame” Myth

Some believe that the “other half” of their soul was created at the same time as their soul, and if you are able to find your twin flame, you will experience a love relationship of the highest kind.
This sounds nice, but all of our findings indicate this theory is complete myth. One of the problems with this belief is that it could potentially cause people to have sky-high expectations of partners that no one could possibly meet. It’s best to just accept each partner and relationship as they are, rather than what you want them to be.

5. The “You Can Create the Love Life of Your Dreams if You Choose to do So” Myth

If we believed this hype that so many of today’s New Age and self-help authors have claimed in their books, we would be ignoring our extensive empirical research, in which we’ve found that personal fate, karma, and free will do exist. This means that you have the free will to create what you want, but only within the confines of your fate or destiny (same concepts, by the way).
You have free will to make the most of your love life, but you can’t “create” an ideal soul mate relationship if a soul mate isn’t destined to show up in your life and also be attracted to and
compatible with you.

6. The “Your Soul Mate is the Love of Your Life” Myth

One of your more compatible soul mates may possibly be the love of your life, but you don’t know that for sure until the last day of your life.

7. The “A soul Mate Relationship Failed if it Didn’t Last a Lifetime” Myth

Based on our findings, all relationships have destined beginnings and endings. Some are meant to be short-term (even if the couple chooses to stay together as, essentially, roommates), and some are meant to be long-term. In our opinion, all relationships, no matter how long they last, are successful because of what you gain from each one. Whether or not you   learned what you were meant to from the experience, not how many years you were together, is of most importance.

8. The “Waiting for a Soul Mate to Come Back” Myth

It’s not easy to let go when your partner wants to leave the relationship. But 90% of the time they are not coming back; they’ve already made up their mind and it’s pointless to try to manipulate the situation. It’s best to stop waiting for them, accept that it’s over, be grateful for what you experienced, and move on.
You have a choice; resist and generate more unhappiness, or accept what is and let go. Even if they do decide to return to you some day, letting go now will not interfere with that. In fact, it will allow you to see the situation clearly and if it’s really in your highest interest to accept them back into your life.

9. The “I Should Meet my Soul Mate by Age 25 (or 30 or 40 or Whatever Age)” Myth

It would be nice if you could just apply for and receive your soul mate at a certain age, much like you do a driver’s license. The reality is that some people are meant to meet a more compatible person or people early in life, and some must have a little more patience.

We are able to determine, by looking at someone’s comprehensive numerology and astrology charts and, or through an intuitive reading, when they are likely to meet that special person or special people, and everyone’s timing is different.

Considering the above soul mate myths and viewing your love life with fresh perspective should lead to more happiness, and perhaps in a different way than you first thought.

If you’re single and would like to meet a compatible soul mate, the best approach is to let go of the past, accept and learn to like being single, and remain open to people who don’t fit every one of your requirements.

If you’re involved and would like to improve your relationship, let go of the past, accept your partner as they are, and do what you can to make the most of the relationship.

Why Do Happy Couples Suddenly Fall Out Of Love?

By eddie

It seems to be a complete mystery. Something we cannot understand. And yet it happens every day all around us: People who used to love each other madly suddenly fall out of love, just like that.

What are the reasons?

Sarah’s Story:

Sarah and her boyfriend had been the perfect couple. It was as if they had waited for each other their whole lives. They had the same hobbies, the liked the same things, they considered each other to be soulmates.

This went on happily for two years – the perfect relationship, until her boyfriend suddenly started to pull back, to act strange and get distant. Eventually he broke up with her, and when she asked for the reason he simply replied that he didn’t love her any more.

Sound familiar? Has this also happened to you or someone around you?

A disappointment.

Isn’t true love meant to be forever?

Well, I cannot give you an answer to this one, but I can give you the advice that you need to examine your perception of “true love”. I can tell you: All that glistens is not gold.

A high expectation of true love, and an exaggerated romantic view of the ideal concept of love can disturb the view to having a fulfilling and healthy relationship.

A realistic view is vital.

What is the Main Reason that People Fall out of Love?

Of course, there are numerous reasons why people break up, but they are not always the same ones as why people fall “out of love”.

The term “to fall out of love” implies that they’ve been in love before and all of a sudden the love is gone.

This is of course an illusion. Nobody loses their love overnight.

In my experience there are 3 main reasons why people don’t love anymore, and therefore break up with their partners.

1. Their expectations weren’t met

If you meet a person and you are really attracted, you tend to idealize things. You fall in love with that person, because everything is so new, so fresh. The sex is great, you’re having a great time discovering all the positive attributes of your partner. All your needs and expectations are being addressed, and when they’re not, you simply put your rose-colored glasses on.

The problem here is that your view of your partner is not always a realistic one. Everyone gives their best, tries to show a better self and to hide possible flaws.

We accommodate and compromise much easier at the beginning.

The problem here is that they met each other’s expectations at the beginning, but later on in the relationship, when the fire has cooled off a little, they tend to pull off their masks and show their real selves.

Now they are acting how they really are. No more compromising, no more accommodation, no more meeting the partners needs.

And here is where it can lead to conflicts because someone will not have their needs fulfilled, and will feel betrayed in a way.

This is usually the moment when the person “falls out of love”.

2. Was it really Love?

Another problem is that people very often cannot say if they’re in love or not. They confuse sexual fulfillment with love.

This happens very often to young people, or people who have been in a long term relationship or marriage for a long time. They confuse the initial fulfillment of a need which has not been met for a long time with love.

Once this urge has been satisfied, (this doesn’t always have to be a sexual need), they suddenly lose interest and “fall out of love“.

Of course, it wasn’t love in the first place, that’s why the whole thing appears out of the blue.

3. Mistreatment

Unfortunately it happens frequently, especially with men, that they start sweet and kind and later on they become loud and abusive.

Violence is of course the most extreme case, very often the partners suddenly change their behavior in ways that cannot be tolerated any more by the other one. Good examples are drug and alcohol abuse.

The partner finds that they are very disappointed and loses their love for the person, because their basic needs aren’t provided any more. The relationship isn’t fulfilling and healthy.

Knowing Why is Helpful

The knowledge of the 3 reasons why people can fall out of love can be helpful to us. They can teach us how to behave correctly at the beginning of a relationship.

We have to have realistic expectations about love and relationships, and most of all we have to be who we really are right from the beginning.

Make clear what your needs are despite the risk that your new partner might not love it.

Pretending and cutting back your basic needs will only draw a false picture of you, a picture which will fade with time and possibly make your partner eventually fall out of love with you.

Would you take that risk? I won’t.

Your friend,

Eddie
